Connectivity

Sheffield City Region is at the heart of the UK and offers investors a high-quality cost-effective location that is super-connected nationally and internationally.

Connected by AIRDoncaster Sheffield Airport offers full cargo and passenger services and is open 24-7 365 days a year. It has one of the longest runways in the UK, catering for specialist heavy and urgent cargo and is ideal for Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO), alongside the adjacent Aero Centre Yorkshire which is ideal for warehousing. Sheffield City Region is also less than 90 minutes away from five more airports.

Connected by ROAD – Sheffield City Region is at the heart of the UK’s road network – with low traffic congestion and 60% of UK’s manufacturing industry within a 2.5 hour drive (by HGV). 75% of the UK can be reached within a 4.5 hour drive, and the nearby Humber Ports provide easy access to Europe.

Connected by RAIL – Sheffield City Region’s central location has led to its growth as a logistics centre. Daily freight services connect Doncaster railport (iPort) with Felixstowe, Southampton and Teeside.
Plus, London is only 90 minutes from the region by train and this will be shortened further when Sheffield is connected by High-speed rail – also improving connectivity with neighbouring cities such as Leeds, Manchester and Birmingham.

Connected by SEA – To the East and the West, the sea ports of Humber and Liverpool are within easy reach of the region. The west coast ports primarily serve America, while the east coast ports of Immingham, Felixstowe, Port of Tyne and Thames Gateway serve Europe and the rest of the world.
